Made for multiple displays

The scene follows your display arrangement in Windows, so the aurora, mountains and shooting stars carry on from one screen to the next.

Bezel gap

Skip the part of the scene hidden behind the frames between displays, so lines run straight across. Line up displays lets you set it by eye.

A living sky

Curtains of aurora ripple, fold and brighten over the mountains, as gently or as quickly as you like, with the occasional shooting star.

Lake reflection

A still mountain lake mirrors the sky. Switch it off for a view across open ground.

Six colour schemes

Arctic green, Green and violet, Teal and pink, Crimson, Ice blue and Clarke orange.

A new landscape every time

The mountains are different each time it starts, or keep the same view if you have a favourite.

Frequently asked questions

Most displays have a frame around the screen. The bezel gap leaves out the part of the scene that would be behind those frames, so the mountains and horizon line up straight from one display to the next, as if you were looking through a window.

Click Line up displays… in the settings. Guide lines appear across all of your displays: use the arrow keys until they run straight from one display to the next (hold Shift for small steps), then press Enter to keep it.

Yes. You'll get the full scene on that display, and the bezel gap simply isn't needed.

It only runs while your computer is idle. On a laptop, or if you'd like it to use less power, set Animation to Balanced or Power saving. A Fast aurora uses noticeably more power than the others.

Aurora is free to download and try, with every feature working. Until you buy a licence, a small "Aurora trial" caption shows in a corner of the screen, moving every couple of minutes. Click Buy a licence in the settings, then Enter licence key… with the key from your receipt email to remove it.

Yes. Click Deactivate on this PC in the settings, then enter the same key on your other computer.

Yes. Windows SmartScreen shows this warning for new programs it hasn't seen many people download yet. Click More info, check the file is Aurora.scr, then click Run anyway. It's a single, self-contained file that doesn't change anything else on your computer.

Windows only lists the screen savers it finds in System32 (plus the one currently selected). If you install it from your Downloads folder instead, it disappears from the list as soon as you choose a different screen saver.

Choose a different screen saver, then delete Aurora.scr from C:\Windows\System32. That's all - there's nothing else to uninstall.
